At Hayden Marsh Recruitment, we like to help keep our staff and customers fit. To that end, we have a table football table, one of those we used to play on in local bars. Some of our clients have their own tables (like Centrica and most of the Oxford colleges) where we will be running charity tournaments in aid of Helen and Douglas House.
Here are some of the recent one on one challenges. Look out for the charity tournaments throughout 2010.

10-4 to the good Hannah of Trinity College span and her nose obscured her sight of the ball, which was an obvious handicap. Hence, I took no joy from this win |

10-0 to the good Matthew was a novice but showed some real pluck, turning red towards the end and openly spitting at me. |

My first loss, 10-9 to the bad Mark showed some good wrist action and strength, could swivel and trap the ball, and hit with power, even using my own patented "salut" drop volley on me. "You cheeky shit" was my opening and closing gambit. NB: I beat him 7 further times on the bounce so I remain invincible! |

The room wasn't anywhere near as dark as this photo suggests. She, Vanessa the PR Manager at Helen and Douglas House, tried hard, twisting furiously with what she described as her "strong right hand". Alas, she remains a valiant challenger who shows potential. I particularly liked her uber competitive streak and cross little face when the goals just kept on coming.... |

Richard of Storageking has hands and wrists of steel, in fact it was diffuclt to distinguish between the end of the rods and the beginning of him. He clearly had some knowledge of the game, no spinning, and was an effective opponent. He scored some interesting goals, especially from out wide. I prevailed, but only just. The concluding handshake has left me in plaster. |

My darling wife almost took me to the cleaners, but that's enough about our domestic finances. Good wrist action, tried to distract me with talk of food, but I prevailed and rammed a chocolate choux bun into her pretty little face. Allez tout droit! |

Al came at a time when I was looking quite good. Think city lawyer perhaps. Anyway, he clearly knew his way round a table, but that was mostly the buffet table and by the time he'd finished on the sausage rolls, I was 10-3, 10-3, 10-5 to the good. Yes he's looking fairly trim himself but I dazzled. It's that simple. |

Laura works with me. She spun, so she was fired shortly after this game, 10-0 to the good. |

Zoe works with me. She's an English graduate and generally irritating and can't seem to live with my win last week in a spelling competition. This game with her today was more of the same, 10-1 to the good. And she spun, which was an outrage. |

Kayleigh had an air of frustration about her, which I subsequently realised was probably due to playing opposite me. 10-1 to the good. |

This is Junaid, our studenty IT support specialist who turns up everywhere with "rebellious hair". His company have a table at their work, so this promised to be tightly fought. And it was. His hair was so long it flicked into my eyes as well but I prevailed. I cut his fringe off as part of our bet, which in turn enabled him to see properly. |

Our newest staff member Kirsty "Ricky" Martin had quick hands but eyes like mine - shot to hell. She gave up after a few points, confirming that she is still, at heart, a student. |
