Too soon for ConDemnation?

Office romances have always been a source of potential conflict in the workplace. In fact more than three quarters of human resources professionals cite a dalliance between colleagues as inherently dangerous to the performance of an organization. In particular public displays of affection can make co-workers uncomfortable, especially between a supervisor and a subordinate. If the relationship stutters, as they invariably do, one party may seek to exact revenge on the other, causing entire departments-if not the whole organization-to be covered in the emotional equivalent of volcanic ash. Childish Things 6 – £47,000 raised!

721R0182Hayden Marsh attended the Childish Things event held annually at the New Theatre in Oxford in aid of Helen and Douglas House, our chosen charity.

It was a fabulous evening with some talented performers – a highlight for us is always “Lullaby” by Out of the Blue. Jason Manford was genuinely funny, Phil Jupitus genuinely wasn’t. But we all had a lovely evening where we were able to invite some of our clients and be thoroughly entertained. Well done to all at Helen and Douglas House for organising the event!

Hayden Marsh have designed their blog to promote debate and discussion on employment related topics. We’d like to raise issues, help and support those in need of it, and go some way to providing a bit of depth on career development and job hunting. So we’re inviting select individuals who can offer experience and perspective in a niche field to answer 10 questions in a section we’ve called “Your Starter For Ten (Questions)” – with an agreed theme which might be a general overview of their role for those looking to follow in their chosen path, or it might be a topical discussion relating to something on which they are qualified to pass comment.

Oxford Blues

Peter“Peter Moore works for Oxford Citizens Housing Association as a Housing Officer. In the first of two postings, here he describes the ebb and flow of his life in Oxford since university and graduation.” Andrew Marsh, Hayden Marsh.

Whenever I’m asked to name my greatest achievement, and this doesn’t happen as often as I once imagined it might, I reply: “making it into my 30’s”. No mere melodrama this, there are sound reasons for such a response, not least among which is that upon leaving university I was spectacularly unprepared for the world of employment.
