Welcome to the Hayden Marsh Blog!
We’ve designed this blog to feature news, articles and events based postings on anything and everything from recruitment and employment issues to industry-specific matters, charity and social events. While we will address wider topical issues, we will focus mainly on the Oxfordshire employment market so that what appears is relevant and of interest to our core customers. We welcome comment and invite debate from all our visitors (please make comments relevant to the topic under discussion.
We will endeavour to reply to any questions that arise and hope you find it both interesting and useful. My colleagues and I will be posting articles ourselves and look forward to contributions from friends and associates from across our industry.
Best wishes,
Andrew Marsh
If you want to get ahead, get equal
Anxious to know how the new Equalities Bill will impact on both our job seekers and on our clients, Hayden Marsh asked journalist Cary Gee, who recently interviewed Equalities minister and Deputy Leader of the Labour party Harriet Harman, for his opinion on why Equality in the workplace matters, and how companies like Hayden Marsh can help you maximise the potential of your employees and your business.
In April, Equalities Minister Harriet Harman finally published the Government’s long awaited Equality Bill. Its publication was met with suspicion by employers’ groups and with scepticism by a range of campaign groups, who consider many of its proposals for tightening anti-discrimination legislation far too complicated, by which they mean unworkable. Despite the welcome the bill received, its arrival should not and can not be ignored, not least because it weighs in at a whopping 500 pages. No wonder Ms. Harman appeared so relieved by its completion.
