OYPS Pub Quiz
As part of the Oxford Young Professionals Society, we took part in an amusing and thought provoking pub quiz. There was a good turn out and we put a few voices to faces. We’re looking forward to the Summer Ball in August 2010. If you’re interested in joining OYPS, follow this link.
£1,019.47 raised for Against Breast Cancer
Tamika Marsh of Hayden Marsh and Juliet Atkins of Airtanker Services spent a very wet Sunday morning pedalling around a 30 mile course in Harwell, Oxfordshire. Tamika commented
“The last 3 miles coming back towards Harwell were dreadfully hard. The weather drenched us as the photos show! It was thoroughly testing but Juliet and I will do it again next year!”
Tamika and Juliet raised one of the highest amounts on the day and were recognised by the event leader for doing so – well done to them both, a great effort in difficult conditions.
The OM Foundation British Gas School Appeal – where did the books end up?
Hayden Marsh went to Helen and Douglas House to gather books for Gillian Richardson of Centrica and their OM School Foundation project in India. Joanna Hurley-Walker, Comms Manager in India at the moment, has kindly sent photos of the books in situ – we even recognised a few of the books! Best wishes to Joanna and Gillian for allowing us to be part of the project.
Childish Things 6 – £47,000 raised!
Hayden Marsh attended the Childish Things event held annually at the New Theatre in Oxford in aid of Helen and Douglas House, our chosen charity.
It was a fabulous evening with some talented performers – a highlight for us is always “Lullaby” by Out of the Blue. Jason Manford was genuinely funny, Phil Jupitus genuinely wasn’t. But we all had a lovely evening where we were able to invite some of our clients and be thoroughly entertained. Well done to all at Helen and Douglas House for organising the event!

We’re also running a series of competitions for our clients, were the winners will be awarded an “En Surprise” taster meal for two at the Nut Tree. Look out for the updates on our blog.

Out of the Blue charity performance at the New Theatre, Oxford
Having watched the fabulous Out of the Blue accapella at the Childish Things 5 event a couple of weeks previously, we had a hugely enjoyable night watching the Oxford boys sing in perfect harmony. They littered the songs with some amusing comedy links and we would recommend them to anyone who enjoys a vibrant, engaging theatre experience. The best bit was that the funds raised went to Helen and Douglas House who need to raise ever increasing funds to compensate for a slight reduction in charity donations due to the recession.
British Gas Business: Indian School Appeal
We liaise quite closely with Gillian at British Gas Business in Oxford. In late May 2009, she mentioned an appeal for childrens books for their school building projects in India. We spoke to a few of our customers, looked in our lofts and garages, and finally scoured the local Helen and Douglas House charity shops and managed to fill a few large boxes. Look out for photos of the books arriving and being distributed amongst the children in a future posting.
