Cary's Profile
Who are you professionally?
I live in London and Oxford and am a freelance journalist. Although my background is firmly in news and politics I am something of an all rounder, also writing features and conducting interviews- my subjects have included politicians, artists and sport stars, for a number of national daily, weekly and monthly publications. When not writing for the news pages I can often be found on the arts pages, where I review books, live music and ocassionally theatre. I write a regular 'comment' column, 'Out and About' for Tribune.
What makes you tick?
Hard news and gossip (and knowing how to distinguish the two) . Being paid to interview my heroes and uncovering a story where you least expect to find one.

Anxious to know how the new Equalities Bill will impact on both our job seekers and on our clients, Hayden Marsh asked journalist Cary Gee, who recently interviewed Equalities minister and Deputy Leader of the Labour party Harriet Harman, for his opinion on why Equality in the workplace matters, and how companies like Hayden Marsh can help you maximise the potential of your employees and your business.
In April, Equalities Minister Harriet Harman finally published the Government’s long awaited Equality Bill. Its publication was met with suspicion by employers’ groups and with scepticism by a range of campaign groups, who consider many of its proposals for tightening anti-discrimination legislation far too complicated, by which they mean unworkable. Despite the welcome the bill received, its arrival should not and can not be ignored, not least because it weighs in at a whopping 500 pages. No wonder Ms. Harman appeared so relieved by its completion.
